Jiumei at Home

Jiumei has her own rules.

She hides under the sofa, claims the TV cabinet as her territory, refuses to be held for too long, and then quietly comes back when nobody is chasing her.

This afternoon with her and her mom felt exactly like real life with a cat: a little negotiation, a little play fighting, a few snacks, and a lot of love that does not need to look perfectly behaved.

Also, somehow her mom and I realized we had once watched the same Hou Hsiao-hsien film at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Maybe that is why the whole session felt so naturally in tune.
