The Shape of Love

The baby’s one-month celebration happened to fall on the same day as her mama’s birthday, so she asked me to come over and capture a few moments for them.
When I arrived, the three-year-old big sister was crouched in a patch of sunlight on the balcony, playing with hand soap. Her tiny hands worked the bubbles with such focus and delight—her latest obsession, her mom told me with a smile. I quickly reached for my camera to capture it.

Later, on the big bed in their bedroom, we wanted to bring the big sister a little closer to her brand-new baby sister. Dad sweetened the deal with her favorite snack. She leaned in with puckered lips, eager for a treat, then bounced around the bed in pure joy, showering Dad with extra hugs and kisses. The whole family was glowing with happiness.

This is my favorite way to photograph—letting moments unfold naturally, without forcing poses or chasing the perfect shot in my head. Just quietly witnessing and preserving the warmth and love as it really is.
